What does this mean?

Esports Gaming

Esports gaming categories are generally divided based on the types of games that are played competitively. Here are the main categories:

  1. Multiplayer Online Battle Arena (MOBA): These games involve two teams of players competing against each other on a predefined battlefield. Each player controls a single character with unique abilities. Examples include League of Legends and Dota 2.

  2. First-Person Shooters (FPS): Players engage in combat in a first-person perspective, with the goal often being to complete a mission or eliminate the opposing team. Examples include Counter-Strike: Global Offensive and Overwatch.
    |

  3. Battle Royale: Players are dropped into a shrinking play area and must scavenge for weapons and equipment while fighting to be the last person or team remaining. Examples include Fortnite and PUBG.

  4. Real-Time Strategy (RTS): These games emphasize strategic thinking and real-time management of units and resources. Players must build structures, gather resources, and control units to destroy opponents. Examples include StarCraft II.

  5. Fighting Games: These involve close combat between a small number of characters, one of which may be controlled by the player. They are usually played in rounds, and characters have unique moves and abilities. Examples include Street Fighter and Tekken.

  6. Sports Simulations: These games simulate the playing of traditional physical sports. They can be team-based or focused on individual players. Examples include FIFA and NBA 2K.

  7. Card Games: Digital collectible card games that involve strategic deck building and turn-based gameplay. Examples include Hearthstone and Magic: The Gathering Arena.

  8. Racing Games: This category includes all racing simulations, from realistic ones to more arcade-style games. Players compete to finish a race in the quickest time. Examples include iRacing and Rocket League.

  9. Mobile Esports: Games played competitively on mobile devices. They may fall into various genres but are categorized together due to the platform. Examples include Mobile Legends and Clash Royale.

These categories can sometimes overlap or evolve as the esports industry grows and new games emerge.
